Paperweight collectors in Texas gathered in Austin on the weekend of September 17 - 19 to hear guest speaker Debbie Tarsitano. The weekend festivities began with an informal no host dinner at a nearby restaurant on Friday evening. About 40 collectors gathered at the Texas Land & Cattle Co. restaurant for a meal.
The meeting was held at the Courtyard by Marriott on Saturday, where PCA TX hosted an attendance of 62 collectors for this outstanding program. Debbie spoke about her career and inspiration and showed slides of her work.
An open house was hosted on Saturday evening at the home of Bob White & Carl Carter for members & guests to view their collection. A light buffet dinner was served. Another open house was held on Sunday morning at the home of Sunny Peer & Ron Gauny, where a light brunch was served. The open houses are very popular with PCA TX members. They provide the opportunity to see and discuss other collections and how they are displayed, as well as to make lasting friendships.
The next meeting of the PCA TX will be on February 26, 2000, with Ed Poore as speaker. The meeting will be held in Houston, TX at the Hampton Inn (Galleria). Ed will speak about his specialty of restoring damaged paperweights. Our meetings are open to the public at no charge, and visitors are welcome.
