(It's easy!)

Steven Lundberg, founder of Steven Lundberg Glass Art, is a pivotal contributor to the arena of glass. His artistic career began in 1972 when, along with his brother James, he founded Lundberg Studios. Initially, the brothers produced a wildly popular series of iridescent Tiffany-style paperweights. Many of the techniques they developed to create these pieces inspired the Lundbergs to search for a more complex method of artistry. In 1974, with notable contributions from Chris Buzzini, Mark Cantor, James Lundberg and David Salazar, Steven Lundberg and Daniel Salazar embarked on a quest to create a new type of paperweight. The approach they pioneered is called the California Paperweight Style (or more commonly, torchwork), and it has made a permanent impact on glass art. This style involves "painting" on successive layers of molten crystal with colored glass rods which are combined with complex millefiori canes and pre-made lampwork inserts. The style allows the artist to create scenes of fascinating depth and intricacy. Working from his small California studio, Steven pursues his artistry in an intimate, modern environment. At the new studio he works with his son, Justin. Under the guidance of his father, Justin has grown to become an important contributor to the artistic process of the studio.
